Enter your deer in the BDN Biggest Buck contest!

Each year, I’m happy to share several deer hunting stories with BDN readers. This year, that tradition will continue … with an exciting twist.

Starting today, we’re encouraging successful hunters to enter their deer in the BDN Biggest Buck Contest.

The rules are quite simple: Your deer has to have been shot in Maine. Deer will be judged in two categories: Most antler points, and heaviest weight. Your deer must have been shot this year, and entries will be fact-checked and verified before any prizes are given out.

Prizes?

You bet. The two grand prize winners will receive one free deer hunt stay at Wilderness Escape Outfitters in Danforth, where they’ll be hosted by Field & Stream whitetail deer expert Randy Flannery.

In addition, each week I’ll profile at least one of the week’s top deer in this “Out There” blog.

So what do we need from you? Clear photos. A few details of your memorable hunt. Some contact information.

An important note: Although I welcome emails from hunters, you’ve got to click on the entry form on our website in order to enter the contest.

You have between now and Nov. 27, 2016, at 11:59 p.m. to enter your card-filler through the contest form. You will need to include a photo and contact info for verification purposes.

Good luck to everyone this season, and make sure you take the time to register your buck in our contest when you tag out.

I’m excited to share your hunting tales with our readers!
