DIF&W big game, fisheries management meetings set for this week

As I mentioned in an earlier BDN story, the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is in the process of formulating its 15-year management plans for fisheries and various big game species.

In that effort, the department is holding a series of public meetings to gather public input that will help guide those efforts.

Over the next week or so, four more meetings are on tap, including three in Orono and one in Farmington.

If you’ve got opinions about the course that state biologists should take in the future, this is your chance to share those thoughts.

The upcoming meetings:

  • Bear management, Wednesday, March 30, 6 p.m.-9 p.m., Blue Room, Black Bear Inn, 4 Godfrey Drive, Orono.
  • Fisheries management, Thursday, March 31, 6 p.m.-9 p.m., Blue Room, Black Bear Inn, 4 Godfrey Drive, Orono.
  • Moose, deer and wild turkey management, Saturday, April 2, 1 p.m.-4 p.m., Blue Room, Black Bear Inn, 4 Godfrey Drive, Orono.
