Reader checks in with more photos: Bobcat or young mountain lion?

Last week Edwin Ecker Jr. of North Waldoboro helped us heat up the Internet by sharing some trail camera photos of what he thought might be a mountain lion.

Thousands of you took the time to look at the photos, and dozens shared opinions on what you saw.

Unfortunately, the photos weren’t the clearest in the world, and it was pretty tough to figure out exactly what you were looking at.

EK000030This week, Ecker is back with a couple more photos, and as you’ll quickly see, these ones are much clearer.

He also sent along a photo with a photo of his own feline friend, which was captured on camera in nearly the same spot. As you can see, the house cat is much smaller.

So here’s his question to me: “Bobcat or young cougar?”

This time, I’m going with “bobcat.”
