Old Town deer photo a ‘keeper’

Earlier this week, Lindsay Powers of Old Town passed along a photo that she thought BDN readers might enjoy.

She was right: The cool shot of a fawn nursing as its mother peers in the direction of the photographer is a keeper.

Powers said she often has the chance to witness wildlife up close at her home.

“It’s very common. We moved here last October and had a group of anywhere from four to 16 [deer] that would stop by to eat all winter long,” Powers wrote. “We watched as [the fawn] got bigger and bigger. That particular photo was about 20 feet from the house. We feed them so they get very close, sometimes within 10 feet of our living room window.”

And deer aren’t the only animals that drop by, she said.

“We have a whole zoo of critters with babies out here,” she said.
