You gotta love L.L. Bean.
The iconic Maine outdoor retailer had already embraced the Boston Red Sox — an L.L. Bean tarp covered the Fenway Park infield earlier this year, then was turned into limited edition Bean Boots — but the folks down in Freeport figured that a World Series title deserved a bit more recognition from the company.
L.L. Bean has announced that it has just the thing: special red Bean Boots that will be presented to team members.
In addition, the company’s Bootmobile has been painted red to mark the occasion; the newly painted vehicle will be part of the Red Sox victory parade through Boston, which is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m.
The boots are pretty snappy, and I’m sure Sox fans would love to strap on a pair. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. If you’re not a player or Sox staffer, you’re out of luck.
“We came up with something that we can give the Sox that nobody else can,” reads a post on the L.L. Bean website. “Something uniquely L.L. Bean and uniquely New England: L.L. Bean Boots — but not just any L.L. Bean Boots.
“These boots are extremely limited-edition 2013 World Champion Boots were designed and sized specifically for the Red Sox team and staff by our expert boot-builders in Brunswick, Maine,” according the the website. “Each pair features a special commemorative logo and will never be sold. It’s our way of saying ‘Thanks’ for all the Fenway memories to each and every member of the team.”
Cool boots. Red socks optional, I suppose.
