Beginning fly fishers invited to April event

Yesterday I told you about a great  fly-tying class that the Penobscot Fly Fishers will offer on April 7.

Today, I’m happy to report that the club will hold stage another event later that month that may be just what your fledgling fly fisher is looking for.

Called “Fly Fishing 101,” the April 28 class is being touted as “especially helpful for those just getting started and [who] want to start on the right foot.”

The class will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Penobscot County Conservation Association clubhouse in Brewer.

Among the sessions: Bugs and flies, equipment and knots, and a casting clinic.

The course fee is $20, which includes the use of equipment and lunch. The PFF will limit the class size to 24, so you’ll want to sign up soon.

And while the course would be a perfect fit for a young angler, those under age 18 must have parent or guardian approval. In addition, those younger than 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult. The minimum age for the class is 12.
